India stocks lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 0.65%

Investing.com - India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Public Sector Undertakings and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.65%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.70%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Titan Company Ltd (NS: TITN ), which rose 2.10% or 23.60 points to trade at 1148.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Britannia Industries Ltd (NS: BRIT ) added 1.51% or 40.45 points to end at 2715.05 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS: ONGC ) was up 1.28% or 1.65 points to 130.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS: BPCL ), which fell 7.31% or 29.85 points to trade at 380.00 at the close. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS: MAHM ) declined 2.68% or 14.75 points to end at 536.95 and UPL Ltd (NS: UPLL ) was down 2.40% or 13.85 points to 564.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO: ONGC ) which rose 1.44% to 130.65, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO: TEML ) which was up 1.41% to settle at 719.15 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which gained 0.80% to close at 426.65.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO: MAHM ) which was down 2.55% to 537.05 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 2.42% to settle at 284.65 and Yes Bank Ltd (BO: YESB ) which was down 2.19% to 67.10 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 853 to 722 and 80 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1319 rose and 1095 declined, while 161 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 5.90% to 14.9525.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.80% or 11.95 to $1511.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 8.07% or 4.42 to hit $59.22 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 8.77% or 5.28 to trade at $65.50 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.80% to 71.540, while EUR/INR rose 0.44% to 78.9905.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 97.938.
